The past, the future, the compulsion
I have just completed Bioshock for the 2nd time this evening. I have never played a game and then run through it all again immediately at a different level yearning for the same (but different) experience. What makes this game amazing?
1. Story-telling and virtual interaction
Tape recorders, friends, enemies, lost souls and children all make not only atmosphere but enriched interactions.
2. Design
Art deco under the sea narrated by maniacal meglomanics and occupied by rampant steampunk crackhounds.
3. Ethics
Save the little girls or harvest them? Eventually your choice changes the outcome and the endings (or beginnings) are changed forever.
